Won't work in USA regular DVD player
The DVD doesn't work in the USA. I had to change my old PC region to be able to watch it. And then, it's not as fun to watch on the small screen of the computer... As for the series itself, it's ok. I much much preferred the book. It seems like the series didn't focus on the items or stories that I liked most I the book.

Spend a Year in Provence with this wonderful account of a couple's adventures during their first year
Great true-life (and true to life) story about an English couple who buy a cottage and move permanently to a village in southern France. It is highly amusing in an authentic way (I know because I've spent quite some time in that very area) and shows the beauty of the region. What can go wrong DOES and the unexpected always happens! The twelve episodes follow the twelve months of their first YEAR IN PROVENCE. Definitely one to watch!

Wonderful nostalgia
I remember that when this series was on TV many years ago, I thought the Peter Mayle character was too grumpy. I've since read the book which was very funny and now I'm middle aged, I feel very differently! If you are a Francophile and enjoy a bit of nostalgia this series is for you. It's totally throw away but has a warm glow that embraces you wholeheartedly (or is that the wine?!).
