Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best-selling in Multi-Effects
First of all, I know what people say about multi-effects units. I know that the 'tone purist' cannot possibly gel with any kind of digital signal processing. Though I'd like to think that I care a lot about my tone, I ended up trying this unit out. In short, I was VERY impressed and VERY pleasantly surprised. (The problem with writing a review of the M13 is that there is so much one could talk about, but I will keep it to the point.) This unit, the Line 6 M13, is what one could call a 'stompbox modeler'. It does not do amp or cab modeling of any kind. The stompboxes in the M13 could be summed up something like this... Line 6 DL4 + Line 6 MM4 + Line 6 FM4 + Line 6 DM4 + Line 6 Verbzilla + More = Line 6 M13. It LITERALLY has every effect from those 5 units plus 25+ others that you would not see in any of them. This puts the number of different effects sitting at 100+. NOTE: The M13 will only have all of these 100+ effects IF YOU HAVE FIRMWARE VERSION 2.0 OR LATER! Buy a MIDI-USB cable, but it is a small price to pay IMO. So be sure to get the newest firmware! I won't go into much detail on how to operate it, but Line 6 was going for simplicity with the M13. I would say they succeeded, and in flying colors. It is supposed to work like an actual pedalboard and, to my surprise, it turns out that it DOES work a lot like a pedalboard. You simply assign 3 effects to 4 different groups. You can have 1 effect active from each group at any time, meaning you could have 4 effects on at one time. For many people, 4 at once is more than enough. All you do is activate the effect you want to create/edit, set the knobs how you want, and as soon as you switch the effect off or go to a different one, it's all saved. No special button combinations of any kind are required. I think you may be able to turn this feature off, but don't quote me on that because I haven't tried it. You can also route an effects loop of your own pedals before or after any effects group. For instance, if you had some reverb pedal you loved but you didn't want to put it before or after the entire M13, you could route it between...let's say FX1 and FX2. You could then have your overdrive sound coming from FX1 feeding into your reverb pedal, then into...let's say an analog delay in FX2. Hopefully that makes sense. There is also a 28 second(I think) looper available at the tap of a button. If you want to, you can play in half-speed before you record to give you a 56 second looper! So there's more to be said about capabilities of the M13, but these are some of the cool features. Features on this get a 10 out of 10 from me. Now for sound quality! This is the make or break for many people on the fence. I will rate the major categories: OD/Dist- 7/10 Delay- 9/10 Reverb- 9/10 Filter- (I don't use filters so IDK) Modulation- 8/10. My quick assessment is this: I would throw your existing OD/Dist pedals in the mix if you're really happy with your OD/Dist sound. If you don't have any stompboxes, I wouldn't worry about it. You can get some pretty decent drive out of the M13. The rest is very good for the most part. For the price, you couldn't ask for more. The ONLY thing I would say could be improved is the quality of the switches. They are ok, but they aren't the greatest. If you want extreme but simple versatility, the M13 is your jam. I have never been a multi-effects guy, but this unit is truely a step forward in digital effects modeling and has changed my opinion. A+Read full review
The M13 has great effects; you would pay a lot more for this many effects. (I sold off most of my pedals.) The FX are easy to tweak - use the knobs, just like regular pedals. I use it in the FX loop of my Line 6 HD500X. That allows me to never hit DSP limits in HD500X. For most patches, I place it "post amp" in the FX chain. Then I access all the mods, delays, reverbs, etc. It is great is you play live, since you can access so many FX on the same scene. It also has a great looper.

the title of my review says it all. One of the easiest multi-sound units I've ever used. Offers a wide variety of sounds that are easy to adjust, setup and use.

The only reason this pedal got a 4 out 5 stars rating from me is because I did not care for the Heavy Metal Distortion. It did not sound like any of the high end pedals that I own. Other than that, this is a must have for the working guitarist. I would recommend this to anyone who is short on cash and wants a lot of quality options for sound. The Chorus and Flanger effects are out of sight. The echo effect sounds like my old echo plex. The tube screamer overdrive was also very nice. Over all, I would purchase this unit again, knowing what I know now.
Super versatile; easy to use and customize. Great for writing and developing song ideas and also great quality for recording tracks.
