Great sound quality on this,CCR's second album. First track, "born on the bayou" is both heavy and funky at the same time. Track two, "bootleg" has another funky riff, this time played on an acoustic guitar joined by an electric. Track three, "graveyard train" is a long track containing a single slow guitar lick repeated all the way through, over which John Fogerty does his best Howling Wolf impression vocally and plays some wicked harmonica. Side two kicks off with a hard rocking version of "good golly miss molly" Track two is the bluesy "penthouse pauper" which features some of Fogerty's best ever lead guitar work. Next comes the classic "proud mary", by far the lightest sounding track on the album. The final track is another long one, "keep on chooglin'" which features more great guitar and harmonica playing. The track builds in intensity all the way through and was always used as the last song in their live set. Despite the title, the is not a country music album but is in fact the heaviest sounding album Creedence ever recorded.Read full review
