Don Bluth and Gary Goldman's animated drama is loosely based on the story of Anastasia, grand-daughter of the last Tsar of Russia. When the family is killed, only Anastasia and her grandmother escape, but they are separated. Years later, conmen Dimitri and Vladimir hear of a reward for the return of Anastasia to her grandmother and begin preparing Anya to play the part, little realising that the teenage girl is, in fact, the real Anastasia. With Christopher Lloyd as the voice of Rasputin who, trapped in limbo, can only escape if his curse is fulfilled and the Tsar's bloodline is finally ended.
