Stylish comedy-thriller, based on one of Chester Himes' great Harlem-set novels. Robin Givens stars as Imabelle, the mistress of vicious Harlem hood Slim, who takes off back to Harlem with a trunkful of gold stolen by Slim from the Deep South. Once there, she seduces naïve undertaker's assistant Jackson, with the young man immediately assuming a role as her protector. However, little does the young man realise the depth of trouble he's getting himself and his hustler brother Goldie into, for with Slim on his way to collect his money and a big-shot underworld figure moving in for a piece of the action, all hell is about to be unleashed in Harlem.
