  • Haynes to the rescue for classic cars

These Haynes manuals are great and all the more critical, when dealing with an older vehicle. While the internet is a brilliant global resource for finding information on a plethora of car related issues, faults and potential fixes, cars from earlier periods are less well covered. A friend had an 1976 Mercedes 350 SL that he wanted to restore but there were a few strange faults, which complicated the task. He was so delighted to get a pristine/new copy of the Haynes manual and while these publications don't answer everything, they provide a wonderful level of detail, rich with advice and useful tips. The illustrations are also great and for older vehicles, that are really becoming 'collectors items', such manuals become an integral part of the collection. Often, the original handbook is missing but a Haynes manual such as this one, provides a much more detailed handbook for any DIY enthusiast. Let's face it, you need to be a DIY enthusiast if you are going to run and maintain vehicles of this vintage but the Haynes manual is such a help in this context, rich with the kind of detail that is often needed, on detailed dismantling and re-build/restore aspects.
