Mainly, that 'you cawn't cawn't cawn't get a good cup of tea. so you have to have champagne with a peach in it' and that 'French bread makes very good skis'. Which pretty much sums it up. She also builds up an impressive collection of champagne corks.

  • Eloise in Paris

An absolutely beautiful book, condition was immaculate, beautifully illustrated with so many things going on in the pictures that you can discuss with the child, and the story was so funny and entertaining, and even educational with the odd French phrases. Even though it was written in the 50's it was delightful. Some things you would have to explain, such as what a telegram is! But the antics are hilarious. I bought it for my granddaughter as she's called Elouise and is 5, so it's very apt. The Eloise in the book is 6. I would thoroughly recommend it as it's entertaining for adults reading it too. It made me laugh all the way through. I've now bought four more Eloise books as I was so impressed with this one! Some of them are 'ready to read' for the child to read, others like this one was for storytelling.
