ISBN-13: 9780712651226, 978-0712651226. Proud, greedy, corrupt and driven by overwhelming personal ambition. It is an image which Peter Gwyn examines, challenges and decisively overturns in this remarkable book.

  • Cardinal Wolsey Saint, sinner or just useful when things were going well.

Very interesting read into the life of Thomas Wolsey. The life of the Tudor Court. Explaining the power strugges to get close to the King and the difficulty of negotiating treatises with foreign countries. All good things come to an end especially if the King has a desire for a male heir. There is always someone stronger and more determined to push others out of the way to get to the top.
