Product Information
The accepted view of nursing maintains that nursing evolved by adopting a series of professionalization strategies in order to gain credibility and status. This work challenges the professionalization model of nursing history by arguing that nurses frequently turned to militarization rather than professionalization in an effort to raise and protect their status. The author argues that the military imposition of an outdated military model on civilian nursing from 1945 onwards was responsible for hindering professional progress and preventing reform.Product Identifiers
