This shipping company history features a Scottish company which has remained a family-owned one throughout its history. Its fleet of coasters bore the names of Celtic saints and these ships were a familiar sight not only in the Irish Sea but much further afield. They carried a wide range of cargoes including coal, salt, timber, bulk chemicals and, most importantly, granite from the company's own quarry at Bonawe, near Oban.
