This is a well-loved classic that I'd read over and over to countless children before buying this mixed media version (with DVD) - bought as yet another way of presenting the story - it comes alive on a computer. Three little owlets gather together to wait for their mother to return from her hunting trip. They cuddle together (nearer and nearer) the longer they wait in their tree. The repetitive nature of the story encourages children to join in with different phrases and complete sentences (if you delay saying the last word e.g. the owl mother was......GONE! I love.......MY MUMMY! said BILL We discuss all sorts of things - different homes/beds/environments - feelings - getting lost in the woods - size - how owls talk - feelings (scared) - mummies and daddies - other creatures in the wood etc. Take a walk in a wood, and look for an owl...and then read the story! Make an owl whistle with lolly sticks, straws and rubber bands This story should be on every child's storyshelf!Read full review
