About this product
Product Information
London Fields is Amis' murder story for the end of the millennium. The murderee is Nicola Six, a black hole of sex and self-loathing intent on orchestrating her own extinction. The murderer may be Keith Talent, a violent lowlife whose only passions are pornography and darts. Or is the killer the rich, honorable, and dimly romantic Guy Clinch?
Set in a location that I remember well, the story is powerfully and lyrically written, and the pace is compelling. Most of us know at least one woman like Nicola, Maybe feel her presence in our own characters. Particularly on a bad day. Reading this tale is like dancing the tarantella (the dance of death) in the confines of a hamster wheel. However the experience is well worth the agony and frustration. Highly recommended.
