  • A well plotted, Medieval gripper.

This was my book group's choice for the December read and my heart sank when I saw the size of it - thinking it would be an all-too-long 'blokey' read! However, from the first page I was gripped by this fast moving tale set a few years after the Norman Conquest. The descriptions of Medieval life are vivid, the characters engaging and the pace cracking. I'd definitely recommend it.

  • Good read for a rainy day

Great story, may be a little long winded, but looking forward to the next in the series when I'Ve had a break from the blood and guts of medieval times

Bought this book for my 94 year old mother which she is enjoying immensely. Half way through it already and looking forward to reading the next book of this exciting trilogy. Highly recommend.

  • Value for money

A very large book, so plenty of content. However the book itself was a bit grubby, not as clean as I had expected from the description.
