  • A scripture based wake up call to Christian Zionists

I write as both a former Christian zionist and someone with Jewish roots. I had become a 'non-zionist' long before reading Stephen Sizer's book because I was very troubled by the contradictions posed by the conditional Mosaic covenant, the Biblical teachings with respect to aliens in Israel - e.g. Ezekiel Ch47 vv22-23, the teachings of Jesus and St Paul, and what has happened in Palestine/Israel since the 1930's until today. Even though I was a scientist by training, I find Stephen Sizer's book lays out clearly the sound Biblical objections to dispensational zionism and antisemitism. This accords with the growing numbers within the Jewish Community who actively reject the notion that antizionism invariably equals antisemitism and that the state of Israel represents all Jews. Stephen takes us from a theology that condemns the people of the Middle east to an apocalyptic end to covenantal theology in which God always has only ever had one people throughout history - those who share in the faith of Abraham, whether Jews or Gentiles - where we work and pray for the peace and security of Jews and Palestinians because all have been made in the image of God and have intrinsic meaning, value and dignity.
