About this product

Product Information

With 18 million copies sold worldwide, THE SHACK is an international bestseller that explores life's toughest questions through the gripping story of one man's struggle to find answers to his suffering. Mack's youngest daughter, Missy, was abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, still trapped in his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack. Against his better judgement Mack arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon. What he finds there will change his life forever. THE SHACK wrestles with the timeless question, 'Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?' Mack's experiences when he faces up to his darkest nightmares will astound you, and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. This is the kind of book you'll want to tell everyone about. Millions have discovered it already - now it's your turn.

    Very good read

A book that takes you on a journey to meet God. It makes you think of your own journey with God. I have learned from reading this book God can hold you & keep you safe even in the darkest of times when all else fails God is still with us. Read the book and change your life to having a closer walk with God. I have got a number of them & past then to people in need of a closer walk with God. Inside the front cover I wrote when you have read it & no longer need it pass it onto someone you know that need it. Gods blessing to the reads of this book

  • Most critical review

Not a book for bedtime reading

Very complicated story and you must share the Christian faith to understand the philosophy of The author

  • Gripping Story

Bought this copy for my sister as I loved the book so much. I couldn't believe how compelling it was. A great holiday read and a totally different angle. I hadn't thought about God like this. Inspiring, not really religious much more open and contemporary. Cheaper than Amazon! Delighted. It was highly recommended to me.

  • Thought Provoking

As somebody who believes in God but lost faith many times over the years this book brought me closer to Him and it's remained that way since reading the book. I can't ever forget or doubt Him again. The main character asks the same questions we ask God when we question his love. It's a thought provoking book. I thought about it for weeks after finishing reading it and I'm compelled to read it again very soon. It made things so much clearer for me and it made sense. I'd recommend this book if you are struggling with emotional pain or/and need Him in your life but want to understand Him better.

  • Brilliant

I love this book, I loaned out my first copy & didn't get it back so bought another. I've read it about 3 times so far and watched the film, & still see more each time, it's brilliant, really expressing God's love - but be warned, it will knock religiosity out of you - & replace it with a loving Godly relationship.

  • The Shack, quite a spritual journey so far

I am about half way through this book. It really is an unexpected read. The subject matter, how someone meets up with God in three persons (I will not give away any more) in a difficult time in his life, has so far been very good. Indeed, the writer manages to offer an excellent explanation of how God might work. A religious book? Well maybe, but it was recommended to me by several people who might/might not have a faith and certainly do not go to church. It is a novel and not a text book, so I am interested in how the story goes, but I am a slow reader and will not finish it for a few days yet. I cannot possibly predict how it's going to end.

  • Great read

Read this once before and wanted to pick it up again. The story line is brilliant and the ending is worth the effort. It delvers an existing thought in a different light, in a thought-provoking way.
