A wonderful trip into the old days in Birmingham and the Black Country! For those of us old enough to remember Smudge is a delightful companion serving to remind us of some of the details that we may have forgotten over the years. I particularly enjoyed a bus journey Smudge made during the blackout to meet his girlfriend at the corner of Icknield Port Road, taking her to the Grove Cinema. Along the way he details many of the shops and pubs that are now sadly long gone. All written in that entertaining style he made all his own. And of course many of his great paintings too. Brilliant!
