  • Very English, very funny.

This is a comic book about a young working man taking his uncle out for a series of outings. They are of different ages. Both come from the north of England and are very proud of that. The North prides itself it being very different from the South. It is very English, and I doubt if anyone unfamiliar with England will not appreciate, or understand, it. There are constant references to things in the past, which will be meaningless if you do not know about them. If you do, they are very funny indeed. The characters are not "real", nor are they meant to be. The late Peter Tinniswood is the master of description, and a very good writer of comic material. Unlike a lot of "funny" books, it does make you laugh. I love literature, and also the comic. I admire this man's writing, which is unique. The BBC have run radio dramas of this , and other , books by Tinniswood. They were also well made, and well acted.
