I bought Crash to read for my book group-if it's relevant we are all women but some had shared the book with male partners. We all hated it! The style and language was extremely repetitive and this made the subject matter unconvincing and reading the book a drudgery. The subject matter, the ghoulish interest in photographing road accidents and deriving sexual stimulation from this, seems prophetic for the time when it was written, given the apparent modern appeal of photographing all sorts of horrors on mobile phones. I feel that the message of the book could have been conveyed far more effectively in 20 pages rather than the 220 of the book. Had it been shorter it would have been far more powerful and interesting. A disappointing work from a respected author.
Grrreeaaat stuff!!!
