Some stories may be fictional and you may question how the character in question would handle the same situation if such and such happened. But I find the book a great introduction to the mind set of social engineer and it wont take very long before you make scenarios in your head to achieve almost anything. With just this information and a couple of hardware pieces and software I know of I have already thought up ways to potentially infiltrate several large corporate businesses including multi chain cinemas and very expensive hotels. It dosn't take long to think up ways of getting around credit card verifications etc using social engineering skills. The only problem I would say is that the book is designed to make companies aware of social engineering tactics, yet for a company to protect itself against the attacks even with the information in the book it would be impossible against a skilled attacker. In other words the book may be aimed at increasing security but is a much greater asset to those trying to infiltrate, I hack legally in hacker war games etc but am not very good, with this information though and one other book on social engineering my computer hacking skills are now ten fold and I doubt I would have a problem infiltrating many companies if I chose to pursue illegal activity (which I don't). In short a great book for network security personnel, but an even greater one for the criminal. For security personnel I would also read Social Engineering, the art of human hacking. Join websites like hellboundhackers, and check out some of the technology available on hack5 (particularly the wifi pineapple and usb rubber ducky which is just a powerful usb microcontroller as mentioned in Social engineering the art of human hacking) and any spy equipment retailer. I also suggest you read up about phone number spoofing and email spoofing etc which is mentioned briefly in Social Engineering the art of human hacking but not in this book if I remember rightly.Read full review
