When local historian John Cole and Observer editor-in-chief Richard Catlow were researching their hugely popular book Images of Rochdale, they unearthed so many superb photographs it soon became clear that one book alone could never come close to doing them justice. So the natural answer was to produce a second book and Memory Lane Rochdale was born. Like Images, this new book draws on a formula that is quite different from most books of old photographs. This collection runs from the early days of photography to include the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and even a few from the 1980s.
