The book gives a broad overview of the first crusade and details of 5 of key battles that took place. It is useful to wargamers and those simply interested in the history alike. It is worth reading alongside Steven Runciman's history of the crusades Volume 1 which is widely available new or second hand. The book lives up to Ospreys excellent standard in terms of maps of the individual battles, campaign details and art work. I would say a must have book for those interested in wargaming the period.
