  • Much more than Woolwich

I resisted getting this book fearing it might be another mundane regurgitation of factory life. I couldn't have been more wrong. The book is very well written and for me at least was a real 'page turner'. Perhaps because my life wasn't dissimilar from Bill's although he did much better than I. He took better advantages of the opportunities that existed if you were prepared to work and apply yourself than I did. Respect Bill! It's not mainly about motor cycles or a motor cycle factory. The same story applied throughout industry in the 60 and 70s for young boys and girls who engaged in the very worthwhile but lowly paid apprenticeships that existed then, but less so now. But there's more than enough 'motoring' interest to satisfy the enthusiast . Highly recommended.
