About this product

Product Information

Although the architect of the White's victory, Auraya's first taste of war has left her sleep filled with nightmares. She walks in fields of blood and gore while the dead rise in accusation. You killed us. You. It seems Auraya will know no peace while these nightmares haunt her, but the only one she trusts to help has vanished. The Dreamweaver, Leiard, still struggling to come to terms with the ever more powerful memories of the long-dead Mirar, flees into the mountains with Emerahl, perhaps the last of the Wilds. Although not a Dreamweaver herself, Emerahl is powerfully gifted, and helps Leiard to make sense of his strange jumble of memories. What they discover will change his life forever. And far to the south, the Pentadrians lick their wounds and set about finding a new leader. Peace, it seems, must wait a while yet ...

  • One hell of a metaphysics system

Not gonna spoil as the exact what is one hell of a reveal in the 3rd book, but the portrayal of Gods, use of magic and general feel of the fantasy world described in this book is amazing. Trudi Canavan's writing style is compelling and descriptive. The pacing of the book is good. As a lighthearted... well... fairly lighthearted fantasy adventure this trilogy is up there. It does however suffer from Auraya, funnily enough. Auraya is the main character of the series and I'm sorry, did I say character? Yeah, no. Auraya doesn't have one of those. Her pet talking rat has more of a character than she does. BUT like a Keanu Reeves film the lack of the main character having a character does work. It stops you from focusing too much on what are essentially your eyes, allowing you to more easily project yourself (Or some version of) as the hero rather than a rigourously defined character blocking you from doing so. The supporting cast and secindary characters are very well thought out and fairly rigourously defined. I'm a sucker for a good magic system and a general fan of fantasy - this has not dissapointed me yet.
