Product Information

A unique and essential travel guide from a real insider -- the man in seat 61. Mark Smith is the Man in Seat Sixty-One. Although this might make him sound like a fictional spy, he is in fact the man behind the massively popular www.seat61.com website, which offers invaluable advice on worldwide train travel. This book is the essential guide for anyone who wishes to travel to Europe and beyond by train. Packed with insider knowledge and top tips, it offers advice on everything from the quickest routes and the cheapest fares to the best weekends away; travelling with children and changing trains; timetables and maps; essential items to travel with; and everything in between. More and more people are choosing to avoid air travel and seek alternatives, and this is the only book they need to plan those journeys.

  • Great information

First you should remember that the book is 10 years old , I wouldn’t buy and pay the full price I paid £4.00 good for me ,might not be good for you ,You can find all the information on the internet .Im a fan of man in seat 61, he has helped me out ,not personally ,on quite a few trips around Europe ,get his videos on YouTube, more people should be using the trains much more especially after this terrible disease ( covid 19) And clean up our air,

  • A little gem for European rail travel planning

Although the content is obviously dated, the book still gives excellent advice on aspects of rail travel to consider and check out on the website of the same name
