A small pilot hole is drilled allowing a connecting bolt to join the punch on one side and the die on the other side of the material. Pressure is then applied by tightening the bolt and thus the hole is literally punched out.

A great little additon to the toolbox
I wanted to add some IP66 electrical switches to an outdoor heat-pump. This cutter makes a super clean and very accurate holes. Super fast too if you use an impact driver. The panel surface paint isn't damaged, so rust protecting the cut metal is also minimised There also no chance of erroneously drilling into the heat pump internal components, for example with a step drill.
