AWESOME little computer!
This machine is AMAZING. My mother bought it for me for high school in 1994 (it costed 45$), and I had no idea what it could do. As I played around with it, and read its HUGE instruction book, I realized the full capability of it. Not only does it allow you to calculate anything using advanced functions like trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent), exponential functions (log, natural log, e^x, etc.), bit-wise and base-number calculations (and, or, xor, xnor, decimal, hexadecimal, binary, octal), statistical calculations, and much more, it graphs any function and is programmable. I made a program to show the day of the week of any date you want, and I even made several GAMES on it with pixel graphics and animations. Even with its 400-step memory, elaborate games could be made using its 26+ variables for storage. You can write subroutines, conditional statements, loops, array programming, and just about anything that an advanced programming language allows you to do. Keeping programs under the 400-step and 10-program-area limitations was a fun challenge in efficient programming.
Sometimes I need to take this calculator out because the Windows scientific calculator and other calculators available just cannot do what it can do.
I still have this calculator. It's 24 years old, potentially 27 years old since it's a 1991 model, and it still works after years of heavy use. The LCD display fades at times and the display has a loose connection, but while the device is on it seems to improve its condition. I recently made another program to accept points (X,Y) entered by the user and draw a filled polygon inside them. Using bit operations allowed me to put the X and Y values into a single variable, so up to 13 points could be entered, and I could use the other 13 variables for programming.
I just ordered this new one, so I could have a working one in case the old one fails. I love how this device has most of the instructions right there on the front of it; multiple clever uses for each button. I always have and still do enjoy playing with this machine. AWESOME!
