Excellent for wild bird chicks
These mini meal worms are just the right size for feeding to nesting wrens, Robins and the house sparrows now on the endangered list. Sparrows are not great insect eaters as adults. However the decline in Sparrow and other species of garden birds is linked to the lack of invertebrate food for babies. It is not widely known that the only water baby brds get, is from their food, so of course seeds, the natural diet for house sparrows and human scraps such as bread do not contain enough water for the babies and so they become ehydrated especially in warm weather. This leads to death of young. I have been buying these mini worms for three years now and from a single pair of House sparrows in the late 1990's I now have a flourishing flock of these loveable birds.
