I've been using various kinds of programmable timers and find this one to be simple to set up. Some of the digital ones can be rather obscure, and the instructions ambiguous. I have noticed a slight tendency of the timer to drift. The period of function stays the same but the time it comes on has wandered a bit. This hasn't been a problem for me as I set it for the middle of the night. Don't let it freeze as all of this kind of device are very vulnerable to frost burst and if they have water in at 1 or 2 degrees below zero you'll need a replacement.

bought to keep potted plants alive whilst away on holiday, set up prior to going away to ensure it was working as programmed, which it was however upon return found all plants somewhat parche, the battery light was flickering indicating it was still working however it didnt operate as set up and periodically turned itself off which ive identified as being a very poor battery drawer/connectiuons which let it down but its fixable and once altered works finew.

There are a number of almost identical products, they are easy to use and do the job. Bear in mind that the timer operates at the same time each day, based on when you set it up, so if you want to water in the evenings you have to set the timer up in the evening. I have rarely been able to keep a unit working over the winter, so expect to replace it most years.

I have modified the product to accept an external 3v dc power supply as most folk tend to forget the Batteries need replacing from time to time. Am trying to load a photo of the modification, but this rubbish format won't let me. The loading circle whirls around and around, but it never loads!

Have now extended my watering system and this simple clever gadget turns it on and off for me twice a day and keeps the whole garden and every pot at its best. Have tried other expensive versions none of which were any better, and bought 3 of these over some 5 years, they are only ever let down by water ingress into the battery tray so now install whole thing covered by a large plastic bag tied underneath. Do remember to disconnect whole system in winter as hose joints and the timer could freeze and will give up.
