The Dreambox DM500s is a set-top video decoder with MPEG2 Hardware decoding. The Dreambox DM500s runs on open-source Linux software. It is suitable for Sky and other satellite broadcasters, and this Dreambox decoder also supports unlimited channel lists for TV and radio, and gives a channel change time of less than a second. The Dreambox DM500s also supports EPG (Electronic Program Guide) and full automatic service scan, as well as giving the option of a manual scan. A twin LED display shows the current status of the Dreambox DM500s, and set into the front of the box is a Smartcard reader, while turning the Dreambox receiver around reveals the Scart and Ethernet interfaces. This Dreambox decoder also has an RS 232 serial interface. The Dreambox DM500s set-top box is compact in size, measuring 130 mm deep, 195 mm wide, and 40 mm high.
