Gunbird 2 is the follow up to Gunbird 1. Now there's a thing. Produced by Psikyo it falls into the "manic" shooter camp, along with the likes of 1945 I & II, Senguko Blade 2 and others. The design and presentation is somewhat unique: sort of cutesy Japanese style but certainly not lacking in mayhem and slaughter. There's a great selection of different characters to play, each having different weapons, speeds, bombs etc. This game, like its honourable ancestor, is hard as nails. The early stages are tricky, but once you get onto the later ones you'll be twitching for days afterwards! Great fun game with a huge challenge. Thankfully there are lots of difficulty levels so you can train yourself, completing it on easiest, then easy, and so on - gradually building up the difficulty. Tends to be available for not a lot of money but don't let that put you off. It's a classic rock-hard manic shmup and worth every penny and drop of sweat you invest in it!Read full review
