one of the best games i have played for a long time. okay it may not be as great as final fantasy BUT is on a good par with it....the start up of the game and trying to figure things out is a little tricky for someone not used to the way of this kind of game but otherwise is is very in depth and highly addictive.......so far i have played it for around 40 hours (noy all at one...haha) but found it really good for game play and for upgrading weapons etc is pretty easy.....so i would reccommend this game for any game player.....the graphics are however part of their time but the story makesup for this.......so enjoy

My teenage daughter & adult son have loved this engrossing game and spend hours playing it together. Content requires physical & mental skills & encourages team work between them. Great graphics & they also love the soundtrack! This is an actual replacement for one they had stolen, they love it that much, and they had even completed the original.
My son still playing it and really enjoying it

as science fiction goes, this is a very good example of great story telling and great graphics, soundtrack's and battle systems. Star Ocean: The Last Hope is a prequel set before all of the other games in the series, as such it does tie up a few loose ends from the first star ocean, but only on a minor level. Story: 9/10 As a prequel, this game tells how humanity took to the stars and for what reasons, sad to say they are not happy reasons, the Third World War devastated most of the Earth, and humanity turns to the stars for a new home-world, however they soon discover that there is more at at stake than the human race, a powerful entity threatens to destroy all existence, and only a few people are aware of this and fewer still can fight it off... Graphics: 10/10 the graphics for this game are amazing, the characters look great, the spells and other abilities are incredible, and the FMV's are staggering, for a game that is now 3 years old, its amazing to see that it still looks great, even compared to newer games like Final Fantasy XIII, it still looks incredible. Soundtrack: 8/10 the soundtrack for Star Ocean: Last Hope is pretty good, there are some minor annoying tracks but overall the music is quite suited to what's going on. for example the market towns have a a cheery fast paced tune, bosses have a more aggressive slower based tune with drums and other loud instruments. Battle System: 9.5/10 the battle system in this Star Ocean carry's on from past star oceans, as in it is all real-time, which adds a bit of challenge to it. the Skills system has also bee improved, you now add skills to the LT and RT buttons and can link them together to form a chain, you can have a maximum of three per trigger and they will be used in order they were equipped. the bonus battle gauge also returns, and is a little more robust than its earlier incarnation. it gives you more EXP, Party SP, HP & MP regeneration and more Fol. Gameplay: 9/10 there a lots of things to do in this game, and the game itself can be quite challenging, dont expect boss battles to be over in 30 seconds, it wont happen as most bosses have a certain weak-spot that can only be hit after a certain condition has been made. there also plenty of quests to do, plus the challenge of beating the game on a higher difficulty, and there are two post game dungeons, each with a super boss to defeat, meaning you'll be playing for months. and Item Creation returns yet again, and as before, it is the only way to get the best gear in the game. Achievements: 6/10 the achievements for Star Ocean: The Last Hope are somewhat annoying, most involve you not missing anything for the item creation, or are just plain silly to get, like the Battle Trophies, i strongly suggest ignoring them and just play the game first, then go through on higher difficulties if you want all the achievements. Overall: 9.5/10 i feel that the game is very good over all, however there are one or two little niggles with it, the battle trophies being the biggest of them, it takes too much time to get them all, and being a completionist, i feel kind of cheated, as they are not the easiest things to obtain 100% of. that aside Star Ocean: The Last Hope is a truly fantastic game that does the RPG genre proud.Read full review
If you are a Final Fantasy fan then this is a perfect game for ya if you're deciding to buy other games! Star Ocean The Last Hope enrolls you to a challenging journey across Planet Aeons. There would be monsters and fiends around but what I like about this game is that you can choose to avoid monsters unlike in FF where you will definitely encounter fiends on fields. The set up and battle is not too complicated. You can choose to battle which monster during the battle scene and change the leading character. What's cool is that you only have to control one character during the battle and the rest is set to automatic fight (you can do manual to if you like). The graphic in this game is extraordinary! Very high quality. I really like this game! But one thing I don't really like is the camera focus. Sometime you accidentally focus your view on a close-up and that hides the character completely but that doesn't happen all the time.Read full review
I only just received this dvd game for my Xbox 360, had a quick look at it to make sure it was fully working, i found it to be a turn based fantasy game with a decent story and very good graphics. The cut scenes where rather long but it did allow the player to make a cup of the nice brown stuff while the info dump of the outlined story was introduced to the newbie player. Fight mechanics where extremely good and the audio and graphics where as good as any other fantasy game ( circa 2009 ) i have seen. I probably would have given it a 5 but i have only got to the first half hour of the game due to time restrictions, give it a go as the price of this game second hand on the Bay is rather low. I bought mine for £4 , got to be a bargain.
Having played the game before and thoroughly enjoying it, I decided to buy it again to have another play-through. The game in general is brilliant if you love RPG's, if you don't then it definitely isn't for you.
Happy days
