Works just like brand new!
It's an old unit yet the cd and cassette play like it's brand new. Radios can be iffy in terms of reception -- this one plays one of my fave stations perfectly while my other fave station receives static. The only thing I don't care for which is why I took off a star is you need to use the remote in order to switch tracks when using the cd. If you use the buttons with the arrows pointing to the next or to the prior track on the unit, what it does is scroll forward or backward, depending on which button you use. Press that same button on the remote and it will move to the next or prior track, no scrolling. The speaker sound is excellent. EDIT 3/29/2020: The good times have rolled. Bought and received this around January 19, 2020. About a week ago in play mode on the cassette, it plays, there's silence, it plays, there's silence, etc. until I hit the stop button to end the madness. First on the left side, and now the right side so I can no longer listen to and enjoy the cassette portion of this unit. My suggestion to anyone looking to buy one of these: because they're very old though they look very new, don't expect them to last too long because of the age and prior usage.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

A Really Fine Old Sony Boom Box.
The speakers have great sound, everything on it works fine, it's in great shape, and it all fits on a book case shelf in my bedroom. Recently I had purchased of a new Sony portable radio/tape/cd player that had such bad sound, I couldn't even use it to listen to the radio. It's great to have Sony's very good quality sound again and to have been able to find it used on Ebay. The remote control was missing from the shipment but it wasn't something I had intended to use.
