Cheap and colourful external DVD drive - but NOT Apple High Sierra OS compatible
This external hard drive works fine with PCs running Windows. For the second hand price paid, it was good value considering it is a fun red colour though it is light and 'plasticy' it does the job. You can see the laser slightly through the plastic top and DVD when in use! However, this DVD drive was bought to work with a new Apple MacBook Pro. Although Samsung's website state that this model of Samsung external DVD writer is Apple Mac computer compatible. However it is NOT compatible with Apple's OS High Sierra. Samsung would not guarantee compatibility of this DVD drive with anything made after it was (2015). Though Samsung offered a firmware download update which had to installed on the DVD drive using a PC, this did not work and Samsung did say it was not guaranteed. This review is not about the seller but about the product only and hopefully helpful to someone wanting a Mac compatible external drive. Better to choose a cheap one from a seller that can check it is Mac compatible with your OS version as I have since or a second hand Apple Superdrive?
