This is an old scope and mine, like many of them, arrived with a couple of problems that needed attention. 1. The cooling fan was dead. As cooling is important, the scope would shut off after just a couple of minutes running without cooling. This was fairly easy to fix once I found the old fan I simply swapped it with one that I scavenged from a PC power supply. 2. The backup battery seems to be dead. This means I have to go through the self-calibration routine every time I turn on the scope. Not a huge issue, just an annoyance. Hopefully I can find a replacement battery that is suitable and not too difficult to install. Other than these issues the scope performs wonderfully. Your mileage may vary. Given it's age there are many more things that could go wrong, however, it's a well made scope (one of the best) and it is still very repairable. Most of the components can be found and there is extensive documentation on how to repair common issues. So if you can handle repairing it yourself then I highly recommend this scope, you won't find one much better from any decade: really don't make them like this anymore.Read full review

Great scope, all functions are working as expected. Calibration is still good, even after 26 years! I'm really happy to have made the choice to buy this "new" scope instead of a refurb. The manual is well written yet concise, pretty easy to figure everything out.

Scope arrived and is in new condition as advertised. All items that would arrive with a new scope came with this one as stated. Spent all afternoon letting it run on a signal generator using various signals and checking all channels on the scope. Everything seems in working order. Excellent value for the money and feel like I couldn't have picked a better analog scope to go along side my Tek digital.

The Tektronix 2246/47a Digital/analog scopes were a mid price line manufactured by Tektronix back in the late 80's and early 90's. Both models 2246 and 2247A(4 channels) are a 100 MHz, four-channel, dual-sweep, portable oscilloscope for general-purpose use. A microprocessor-based operating system controls most of the functions in the instrument, including a fully integrated menu-driven voltage and time measurement system with Smart Cursors. A counter/timer (C/T) is integrated into the trigger system to provide many automated counting and timing measurements with high accuracy. Other features Include single-button automatic front-panel setup and a menu-driven store/recall setup function. A menu-driven service mode provides for configuring of certain menu and readout displays, internal calibration, and servicing. Both have many more functions that compares or exceed to the current full digital lines of scopes from Tektronix and other manufactures. The priced paid for this full featured scope was way lower than buying one of the late digital models, plus an analog screen, yields a much better image quality than digital screens.Read full review
The Tek 2246A is easy to use and packed with features. There are a few of these floating around that are still NIB. The USAF bought them in the late 80s and stored them, very well I might add. There are two versions, one with a silver oxide battery that will eventually burst and leak, and one with a lithium battery that will not. If you need a 4 channel analog scope, get one of these. If you can find a NIB example, with all the accessories from Tek, definetly buy it.

Finally us poor people can afford something that when new was unaffordable. So cool.

The picture showed all the knobs. When I received it was missing a knob. My intention was to get it working. Is not as pictured.
