This is my 4th Red Cat and is my first 4x4 monster truck. I love the look of this truck and the wheels are cushy, huge and way cool looking. After following Red Cat break-in procedures and on the 4-5th tank, I got the truck tuned that it starts on 1st or 2nd pull start. This truck is a lot of fun and more forgiving than my 1/10 scale Shockwave & Tornado S30. I've took it to my local hobby shop in Bethlehem, Pa., Trains & Planes where they had outdoor dirt track. This truck sounds great with that tuned exhaust pipe and it has plenty of power to do jumps and great low end torque as well. The shocks are decent and provide ample protection on landing. I highly recommend this to someone getting into this hobby and don't want to spend $300-400+ for Traxxas or other name brands. Don't listen to the others that say Red Cats break easy, nah... they all will break if you abuse it or bad landing. It's a hobby that requires continues $$ and time if you're going to be bashing it all the time. Again, highly recommend this monster truck and price can't be beat.Read full review

When my daughter opened it for xmas the box said semi truck but it was the black & blue truck Redcat sent the right body but on Christmas morning I was expecting to see excitement instead it was disappointment because she had said she didn't want that body if I had known what I know now I would have not bought a Redcat there's only 1 hobby shop around me or within 2 hrs that even works on redcoats not to mention it is stubborn to start had to take it to hobby store & have a nitro specialist mess with it for over 2 hrs to get it to where it would start so I could do the break in process just all around a lil more of a headache than I'd hoped for thanks jeremybransby

I will say i wish i never blew 200 bucks on this truck. It breaks every time i use it. It has very little in the way of aftermarket parts to keep it from breaking. The motor sucks. the steering is horrible. So much play in the servo saver. I must fix it once every run. regardless I bought a used 1/8th scale savage and never had a issue with it. Ive flipped my nitro rustler several times and never broke it. This thing no matter how tight i make teh screws use loc tite etc screws keep falling out. the motor never runs. The alignment fails every run. I never owned such a piec eof crap truck ever Untill this one. save your money. your better off buying a used losi traxxas or hpi rather than any redcat product

I own two and lots of spare parts, The chassis design is really great and the 3.5 has plenty of power. With a bit of work these can be a really fun to run. The stock body looks sleek and is made quite well. Right out of the box the tires can be really out of balance so bad it will shake the screws right out of the chassis. So I am 100% sure you will need to balance them with a wheel balancer that will fit a tall tire with a smaller 12mm hex hub and some wheel clay. The hardware is almost all Philips head with course plastic thread screws which I do not like but have to live with. (upgraded hex head metric screws will not fit well unless you pre tap every hole which could strip out the hole) You will need to adjust camber and tow or the it is impossible to run strait on loose dirt or gravel. The 2.4 radio works OK The steering is a bit too sensitive on loose dirt so a radio receiver upgrade would be recommended. The spur gear is made of too soft of a nylon compound to last more than a few minutes, I stripped mine on the third tank of fuel before I even broke it in. Good thing everything that is wrong with them is cheap to buy except for a alignment setup station. RLRead full review

The HPI Savage is my favourite in the 1/8 scale trucks but for a starter truck this one is OK. Pull start is junk, should get Rotostart system to start or you will become frustrated pretty quick. The motor is a little underpowered and would do better with a 25. I tried one and was impressed. The one I got was used and had a rough break in.
