  • Perfect Recording Hardware

This is absolutely my favorite piece of musical equipment I own. It is versatile, very easy to use, and very high quality. It is designed extremely well, and produces a sound that is undisturbed and clear. It makes it possibly to record analog instruments in a hands-on and tactical way. I love the DP-008, it is the sun of my studio's planetary system.

  • Mini and Mighty Recorder for the Amateur Musician Who Doesn't Want to Mess with Computers

I dabble in recording myself playing instruments. Having this is way more simple than trying to figure out how to work music recording software on the computer. (the numerous features overwhelm me). It's not made to edit music like a DAW though. Although you can shift tracks around in the mix, it's a bit cumbersome to do so. I like this though because it encourages me to record the whole track through non-stop perfectly. The internal mics sound pretty nice too. Real handy having the volume, pan, and reverb effects controlled individually for each track with the little knobs.

  • Good Value!

Very handy for quick multi-tracking for practice or demo. Built in mics are adequate, but touching the unit (including using any buttons) creates noise--OK if you're editing out starts and stops, but punching in/out will also add the button noise. Editing features are not very convenient--for anything serious, it's better to export files to a computer with editing software like Sonar or Vegas Pro. Audio quality is "only" CD quality--many digital recorders have higher specs. Me, I don't think I can hear a difference! This unit is very quiet and clean--very usable audio tracks.

  • Very Enjoyable, Easy-To-Use Unit

At this price point, I don't think you can find something better. While it's not entirely intuitive, it's very easy to learn. If you connect a foot switch--one that might normally be used as a simple sustain pedal for keyboards--you can punch in and out with precision. The unit can record only two tracks at a time, but that's pretty standard in this price range. The sound quality is very good.

  • The Tasman simplifies recording but still has enough features to enhance recorded sound and output. Getting music in is easier than getting it out tho

  • Tascam DP-008EX Multi-track Digital recorder

This is an AMAZING piece of gear for the price!!!! Compact, but thorough, and extremely user-friendly! Sensibly laid out. The results very high quality, with features you would usually only find on more expensive (and larger) recorders. Cannot praise it enough! If thinking about a multi-tracker and on a tight budget, look no further. I have had a LOT of Tascam gear over the years. It is superb!!!

  • Great introduction to multitrack recording for the novice musician

I sought this product out after amassing a few hardware instruments I wanted to record in tandem. Specifically, I have three Volca sequencers (Sample, Beats and Bass) and a microKORG synthesizer, and needed an alternative to my computer for recording them. My workflow involves lots of improvisation, and the arrangement aspect of things has been something I struggle with, so I wanted to be able to record my jam sessions while individually tracking each instrument. Though the DP-008ex is limited to 2 mono inputs at a time, playing those back and recording new tracks 2 a time allows for 8 tracks to be played back, which is sufficient for my purposes. Would have been nice to splurge on a model with faders, but that's a luxury I gladly forgo for the deal, as I can tell I'll learn plenty about the recording process and how I want to create music just from being able to quickly, in an organized fashion, record separate tracks of audio for tweaking later. Still have to learn how to export things and get used to some of the menu navigation and other nuances, but I enjoy the product and think it's a great buy if you can find it secondhand.

  • This thing rocks

Bought it for parts, turned out it was a very simple fix. The guy who sold it thought was beyond repair. It turned out to be a very simple solder job on the ac power plug and had it fixed in 5 minutes. The best $20 I've ever spent.

  • Great for recording on the go

Can't pack the laptop 5miles of cable etc? Trying to slim down the 78 bajillion options offered by your DAW? This little throwback to a simpler time has you covered
