Up to devilment, and incessantly watched by the suspicious (but sometimes on the take) authorities, in this spoof, two competing groups seek more meat, especially pork. Thus, the pig, who steals the show. British humor (some low brow), secret plans, hilarious scenes, and outstanding acting- all, this movie wears well over time, and bears repeat watching. When WW2 ended, the US ended rationing within a year. Not so, the UK..wartime rationing lasted til 1954! The more you understand this, and how really strict it was compared to the US, the more you will appreciate "A Private Function."
