You can unwind with high-definition content streamed from the iTunes Store, with a maximum display resolution of 1280p, while standard-definition content streams up to 720p. For sports fans, you can also access subscription services for MLB and the NBA. All of this home entertainment is controlled by a dedicated Apple remote. There’s no need to fret with setup, as the media streamer can be connected either via an HDMI cable or digital optical audio cable to your TV. At just under 4 square inches, this device doesn’t take up much room either. It is also capable of supporting high-definition TVs from a wide range of manufacturers.. As for an Internet connection, you have the choice of connecting your Apple TV to the Internet either via an Ethernet cable or over 802.11a, b, g, and n wireless networks, although 802.11b networks are unable to stream video. With a home wireless network, you’re also able to wirelessly stream video from other Apple devices in your home to the Apple TV using its AirPlay functionality. Video file formats supported when file sharing include H.264, MPEG-4 and M-JPEG. Hard to set up but the price is good
this 2nd generation Apple TV only has the following that still works: iTunes, Netflix, Radio, and downloading movies from apple. The set up is even more strange because you have to sign in with your iCloud account, then the Apple TV denies you, but you get a 2 factor code. After that, sign in with your iCloud account again, but this time type in your password AND the 2 factor code at the end of the password. then the Apple TV will have you signed in to access your music and movies.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

It was not ready to use or "fully loaded"
This is my second Apple TV2 and when I received it, it was not entirely set up. Had I not known what to expect, and what it should look and work like, it would have been useless to me. In the end I was able to complete the set-up and the necessary downloads and it works for the most part. As with all Apple products, this product works perfectly for Apple TV. Can mirror iPhone/iPad screen without a doggle wired connection (with proper ios version/model iPhone/iPad). Works great for Netflix and HBO NOW but misses YouTube app
It is a nice device but version 2 of Apple TV does not play YouTube anymore. I use it for Netflix and HBO NOW but youtube would be a nice to have app as well. Be aware about it before you buy. On bright side it could be used to Air stream content from phone. It does not always work great depending on how screen ratio of YouTube videos fits into TV screen. Native YouTube app does it better when it comes to adjusting video to TV screen. It has tons of apps that probably not so useful but they could be removed from home screen in settings.

Cheaper than cable

Apple TV 2 - Excellent for streaming TV movies
I have used Apple TVs for years and this is an addition to my collection which has been first off in classrooms using Air Play to demonstrate various educational programs on large screen displays. It's crashes and you need to reboot it often
It crashes and you need to reboot it every other movie. Get the fire stick for 3 reasons. 1080 is way better than the apple 720 for hd tv. #2 the fire stick don't crash #3 you can but 3 fire sticks compared to 1 old Apple 2 gen tv. Works great very easy to use. My wifi is old thought for sure I'd have to Upgrade it but no.
