excellent read kept me interested right till the end with a brilliant conclusion a must read for any one interested in pathology and crime. Simon Beckett is a true master in keeping you enthralled and always intrigued as to what the outcome will be. You are never sure what would happen next and the story line leads you into all sorts of mystery and intrigue and quite frankly I just could not put the book down. This writer certainly has a wonderful imagination and writes beautifully he clearly has done his research to provide such toe curling stories. A definite top-class comparison to Patricia Cornwall.
This is the fourth in the David Hunter series and they are truly excellent. Easy to read and follow, often gruesome and very real. I love a good mystery and as a fan of Sue Grafton, Kathy Reiches, P. Cornwell, Ian Rankin etc, Simon Beckett is my clear favourite. This one concentrates on the Dartmoor area and the poor old ex-GP/phorensic expert gets dragged back into an old case by a women he met briefly eight years earlier. Thinking he is doing his bit for a damsel in distress, he hangs around in Dartmoor and finds himself involved in something much more sinister. I couldn't put it down!
