About this product

Product Information

When best friends become arch enemies it's murder... In March 2000, police raided a central Dublin hotel and uncovered a GBP1.7 million drug-mixing factory. Of the three men arrested at the scene, just two were charged. The third, Declan Gavin, was labelled a 'rat'. Within eighteen months he was dead, and a deadly gangland feud was born. Over the course of ten years, sixteen young men have been brutally murdered in tit-for-tat killings. Cocaine Wars chronicles the shocking story from the growth of the gang under the tutelage of notorious criminals 'Fat' Freddie Thompson, John Gilligan and Martin 'The Viper' Foley, to the ruthless way in which they established themselves as Dublin's most feared drugs mob. AUTHOR: Mick McCaffrey is the best-selling author of The Irish Scissor Sisters and has specialised in crime journalism for the last seven years.

  • An interesting history lesson.

I bought this book as a direct result of learning about the current problems in Dublin and further afield. It is a factual account of a drug gang war in the city that started some years ago now. It does not glorify or glamourize the drugs life, but it recounts in detail some of the shocking events that took place during the years of this feud.
