Product Information
Rayman 3, the limbless hero's second outing on the Game Boy Advance, eschews the 3D gameplay of its console brethren and instead harkens back to the series' 2D roots. Like Rayman Advance before it, Rayman 3 challenges players to make their way through an assemblage of side-scrolling levels; running, jumping, and fighting their way through a number of obstacles. This time, Rayman sets off to aid his friend Globox, who has inadvertently ingested the Lord of the Dark Lums, a source of great evil. Familiar abilities, such as the Power Punch and Helicopter, are now imbued from the outset, and once again Rayman will acquire much-needed enhancements as he progresses through the game. Throughout the adventure Rayman will collect Lums and rescue teensies, and only by acquiring all 1000 Lums will access to the final stage be granted.<br><br>Interspersed throughout the title are quasi-3D levels that see Rayman on water-skis or behind the wheel of a bumper car. The latter is a Mario Kart-esque challenge whereby players must complete a number of laps within a given time limit. Four multiplayer modes are offered, one of which can be utilized by two players sharing a single cartridge, the others -- Tag, Bumper Cars, and Bandit -- support up to four players, but only if each player owns a copy of the title. As its name suggests, Tag requires the player marked as "it" to catch the others before time runs out. Inversely, Bandit rewards players for remaining "it" as long as possible. The Bumper Car event utilizes those stages from the main game, but challenges players to compete against one another instead of the clock.<br><br>Players who possess both the GameCube and GBA incarnations of the title can utilize the GameCube -- GBA link capabilities to unlock 11 stages in the GBA title and a handful of extras in the GameCube title.Product Identifiers
