Es gibt vermutlich keinen Luftfahrtinteressierten, der nicht schon einmal das typisch »knallende« Rotorengeräusch eines Bell UH-1 gehört hat. Dieses Fluggeräusch wurde zu einem der unverwechselbaren Erkennungsmerkmale des berühmten Hubschraubers. Entwickelt 1955, erlangte das Muster durch seine Verwendung im Vietnam-Konflikt weltweite Beachtung und wurde so zum Synonym für den Militärhubschrauber schlechthin. Noch heute stehen moderne Varianten des Typs bei Streitkräften rund um den Globus im Einsatz - auch in Deutschland wird der Hubschrauber noch im Rettungseinsatz geflogen.
