Roland VS-2480CD
When introduced in the early 2000's the Roland VS series was an instant hit and a giant leap forward for the home studio enthusiast. Now, almost 15 years later, the hardware DAW's have almost all been replaced by software implementations on various platforms, including the Mac and Windows PCs. Being an old school studio bum from the 70's I prefer the feel of knobs and buttons vs. the virtual world of software. If you're like me, then you can scarcely do better than the Roland VS for your home studio and these days the pricing for good used units is simply awesome. If you do purchase a Roland VS make sure the original distortion issue was resolved in the unit you are considering.

Multiple Tone generators USB
Alot of the affordable pc's are comming with fewer usb slots. And as "pro-tools and cubase alike declare one of these just to insult your pocketbook everytime you use them something of this multiple MIDI IN and OUT is really helpful to a band with more than one midi player and tone module available.
