ReviewsThis book discusses the meaning of cyber-bullying: who does it, how to stop it, and the forms it takes. It is colorfully illustrated and is sure to draw in readers and researchers. The prevalence of cyber-bullying makes this book a must for middle- and high-school libraries. Examples of cyber-bullying ring true, as do the tips on how to stop attacks. The illustration captions tend to show suburban teenagers, while cyber-bullying is a problem regardless of locale. The thought bubbles and boxed information make this an easy book to browse. The list of websites with more information makes this a great self-help book. The cyber-bullying "quick tips" pages do an excellent job of summarizing the entire book, listing the technologies involved (including cell phone, email, and gaming sites) and the types of cyber-bullying associated with each, as well as prevention tips and solutions. The only caveat is that the charts that cite surveys are not referenced for date or source. The series is Hot Topics, and it contains ten new books on today's societal problems and concerns. Each book is colorfully illustrated, with well-written text and an attractive layout. Personal stories, as well as statistical and scientific evidence, make this a first choice for libraries. - Lois McNicol Book Pushin' Cats Blog (Tri State Young Adult Review Committee) 4/3/2012 http://tristatereviews.blogspot.com/2012/03/hunter-nick-cyber-bullying.html, All of these titles feature attractive layouts with well-captioned photos. Some conclude with a checklist of Quick Tips to sum up the previous chapters. In a glaring omission, Violent Crime's section about gun violence in schools mentions neither the Columbine shootings nor the Virginia Tech massacre. A significant part of Offshore Oil Drilling examines the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion, an event which will shape debate on the subject for decades to come. Each chapter contains a case study and dos and don'ts of a variety of cyber bullying. Controversies are discussed and tips are provided to deal with and prevent cyber bullying. The chapters are filled with color photos and graphs. Quick tips, internet slang, a glossary, book titles and websites for further research are listed at the end of the book. This book contains timely information for today's teenagers so it will be a great addition to our collection. It can be used for research or just to get some help with a cyber bullying problem. - Terry Smith, Armstrong High School Richmond Public Schools 8/9/2012, Hot Topics is a series that covers current trends and issues that teens are discussing and being affected by. In this edition, Cyber Bullying, the author gives facts and case studies about cyber bullying.
