About this product

Product Information

Transform your photography experience with the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm lens. Designed for control, convenience, and ease of use, this compact lens allows for comfortable shooting and excellent image quality. The Panasonic Lumix G Vario Micro Four Thirds 100-300mm lens features two modes to enable flexible photography: wide-angle and telephoto. Use the wide-angle mode to capture more of a scene with a short focal length. With the telephoto feature, take high-resolution photos of tricky subjects, such as athletic events, far-off views, or animals in the wild. The long zoom range makes it easy to maintain a safe distance with this powerful 300mm lens, which is equivalent to a 200-600mm lens on a 35mm camera. The Panasonic Lumix G Vario zoom lens system is designed to help you capture clear images in any setting. The seven-blade aperture system smooths out areas with different focus levels, creating edge-to-edge clarity in complex compositions. In bright sunlight, the multicoated lens cuts down on flare and glare, so you don’t need to worry about ghosting. Shoot freehand or with a tripod using the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm lens. It’s engineered with MEGA optical image stabilization (OIS) to ensure sharp photos in any setting. The OIS automatically adjusts to offset camera shake and reduce blur. If you need to create an artistic effect, simply use the MEGA OIS switch on the side of the lens to switch the OIS function on or off. Enjoy full image control and high-end results with the Panasonic Lumix G Vario lens. The manual focus option allows you to set up the scene to achieve a specific look. Simply move the focus ring with your hand while looking through the camera's viewfinder. The automatic focus feature has you covered during fast-moving action shots.Manage the amount of light in each image with the F4.0-5.6 aperture setting. Select any F-stop from F/4 to F/5.6 to create the ideal exposure. F/4 lets in ample light for dim outdoor scenes or long focal lengths. Built with extra-low dispersion technology, the Panasonic Lumix G Vario H-FS 100-300mm lens prevents color distortion and poor resolution. As a result, each picture features true-to-life shades across the frame. When you’re taking portraits, the lens automatically recognizes and focuses on faces, so each person’s expression is visible. Switch from still photos to video in seconds without switching lenses or cameras using the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm lens, which features integrated high-definition video support. The lens moves seamlessly between aperture ranges, so you capture bright, crystal-clear footage. High-end tracking enables you to shoot video of fast-action sporting events without lag or blur, minimizing poor quality frames. Because the lens operates noiselessly, your camera captures only the sound of the scene. Bid farewell to bulky telephoto lenses with the Panasonic Lumix G Vario lens, which packs powerful features into a tiny package. The compact lens measures just 4.96 inches long, so you are able to slip it into a camera bag for easy transportation. Weighing in at just 18.3 ounces, the lightweight lens enables you to move quickly in the field to get the best shot. Installing the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm lens is fast and easy, thanks to the simple design. The lens is designed specifically for Panasonic cameras to ensure efficient performance. For a lightweight lens that delivers crisp, clear photos, choose the Lumix G Vario 100-300mm lens.

  • A good long lens for mft

I bought this lens in gently used condition. It came with front and rear lens caps and the lens shade. This past summer, I paired it with my G3 camera and was able to catch some nice handheld shots of some native birds in Southwestern Wyoming. Used out of doors, I find that the maximum aperture of f5.6 (300 mm) is sufficient to provide adequate depth of field. This is not a fast lens and would not be of much use in available light photography. While the mft format makes it possible to produce much lighter and smaller equipment, this lens/camera combo is no lightweight; fatigue sets in quickly during handheld use. That causes the user to search for a suitable solution to the fatigue issue. Fortunately, a German firm called Roesch Feinmechanik makes a lens collar that has a machined fitting on its underside that allows it to be mounted to a quick release tripod plate. The user mounts the collar to the lens and then the collar to the plate. The lens then can be mounted to the tripod, and then the camera body can be mounted to the lens. I find that this provides a cost-effective solution with good stability. The collar even has a cutout that maintains access to the mega O.I.S on/off switch on the lens.

  • Good, sharp reach with only a few minor quibbles.

Other than stiffness in the focus and focal length adjustment rings, the lens works well. It shows good sharpness corner to corner, with only small drop offs wide open and full extende to 300mm.

  • Not as better designed than the 35-100 or 12-35

This lens is pretty good in the short range of about 100-150 but quality does drop off substantially on the long end of 200-300...it gets soft. It has a plasticy body that does not feel very durable....however, the glass is quiet substantial in weight and quiet professional looking. Image stabilization is good on the short end but so-so on the long end (then again, this is a 600mm equivalent lens so this is a typical feature of such lenses). If you really need this kind of focal length then I would look at Olympus lenses in this range or metabones and Canon or Nikon glass....If you can get this lens cheap then buy it but don't pay full price.

  • Great Panasonic lens!

This is a great lens to have for bringing distant objects into view. Looking forward to using it for birds and animals and the such. If you get too close, the critters scamper away. Really wanted a Panasonic 100-400 mm lens, but that would cost more than 3 to 4 times as much. The lens I got was used but in mint condition. The lens came with the Panasonic lens hood, front & back dust caps, storage pouch, paperwork. The lens was contained in the original box and packing. Also double-boxed. The used lens works very well in manual and auto-focusing modes. Looking forward to putting this lens through the paces.

  • Great range & sharpness with adjustment

Checked out several reviews of this lens and I have to agree with their suggestions. Lens needs to be brought back from full zoom (300mm back to 250-275mm) and stopped down a bit from f/4.0 to f/5.6 when using shorter focal length (100mm). The long zoom end should be f/5.6-f/8.0 for best results. Solid build and the addition of a tripod collar from the German Engineering Company make this a great lens.

  • Wow!

Oh wow! What a lens! This baby is incredible. I love the solid feel and the quick auto-focus response. Close ups are complete with background fuzz effect. Mounting and un-mounting to my camera is quick and easy. The on-off image stabilization switch is smooth and flawless. The mm range of this lens is perfect for my video applications.

  • One of two lenses

I have come to love my Panasonic GH1. Formerly had Pentax DSLR. My SLR lenses performed very well on micro 4/3 format, I guess because the smaller focal plane is less demanding. Even a "so-so" 35-70mm tele was a great long range on the Panasonic. However, running everything manually was less awesome. My fav lens: 35-100 f2.4 is great for several reasons: the 2.4 speed, manual zoom & of course built in OIS. Now I just use two lenses 12-60 and this 35-100. Bodies are so cheap, I have them both mounted. If you can only afford one, I recommend the less expensive 12-60, and take outdoor tele shots with some mid-range piece of SLR gear, but then save your pennies to get the 35-100 someday. THIS lens was comparatively too long, slower, electrically zoomed: so I decided against it.

  • Great lens for the Money

This is a wonderful lens in that it is very light given the reach it has. Comparable lenses from Cannon, Nikon and third parties are much bulkier and heavier. It confirms my decision to go with my Panasonic GH3 M4/3 format. My days of lugging around 30 pounds of gear are over.

  • Lumix g 100-300mm

The zoom is fairly smooth but on the clunkier side as is the focus. Feels solid in your hand. Images are pretty decent up to approx 200mm (400mm), after that colors are a bit distorted. But worth it if gotten at a lower than new price. I would not buy this lense new for $700.

  • Quality Lens

If you don't have $1,800 to spend for the new 100-400 pana lens, this lens does the job. There's videos online that give advice to get the most out of this glass. My results have been fine. For the money it's real bargain for the reach of this lens!
