About this product

Product Information

Whether shooting from up-close or far away, the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 28mm to 200mm lens gives you good quality images either way. It also keeps a steady focus that does not alter the overall image results. What also makes this Nikkor model very efficient is the fact that it comes with a sturdy grip. This grip will come in handy during any situation or photo shoot, providing you with better handling of the lens. This makes using it much more comfortable and efficient, letting you take very accurate shots without unwanted movement. Thanks to its high-quality diaphragm, it helps to improve the look of out-of-focus objects. It is also compatible with all Nikon SLR cameras and Nikon F mounts. These Nikon lenses come with a standard D-type design that offers accurate distance information when in use. Such information is important when controlling the ambient light exposure and flash features on the device. It also comes with a very close focusing distance of just 1.3 ft. at 200mm. This is especially short for 28mm to 200mm zoom lenses. If ever you wish to attach a filter to this 28mm to 200mm lens, it's compatible with a thread size of 62mm. These f/3 lenses weigh well under a pound, allowing them to readily fit on your DSLR without adding lots of weight. This zoom-Nikkor lens measures 4.1 inches by 4.1 inches by 7.1 inches, making it small enough to fit in a purse or messenger bag. When controlling the aperture settings of this Nikon lens, the maximum is set to f/3.5 with a range of f/3.5 to 5.6. The rounded diaphragm included with this item comes with a seven-blade architecture that helps to provide a natural blur. This type of lens is also equipped with three aspherical lens elements and three ED glass elements. These features are designed to provide your camera with premium optical performance. The ED glass, in particular, offers fantastic color correction and sharpness by basically eliminating chromatic aberration. This model comes in a sleek black construction that includes easy-to-read markings in white and yellow. These markings will assist you when changing the settings for your next photo. This Nikon lens also comes with a super integrated coating that drastically reduces flare and ghost effects. Glare from the sun is reduced, so your images will always come out clear with proper color balance. Another aspect of this Nikon lens that you might be pleased with is the inclusion of internal focusing. This means that even when you zoom with your camera, the size of the lens doesn't change at all. This IF technology is the primary reason that the focusing distance can be so close. It also allows for faster focusing when the item is in use. With the addition of a massive 7.1x zoom, you can readily hone in on any object that you see. With a wide viewing angle, you can capture a large variety of objects in one shot. While the focal length ranges from 28mm to 200mm, there are six additional focal lengths in-between that may prove useful.

  • Will like it-

Once I get it back from Authorized Photo Service it will be a refurbished lens. Would not autofocus from135-200 mm. Getting a near full- gut repair on the inside costing what I won it for on the auction. Exterior condition was good, but inside was worn out. I'll have to 'use out' my investment in the repair. Bought as a vacation lens for times I didn't want to carry 2.8 glass. Still much cheaper that the current model-and much smaller. Plastic body and mount may be a little less robust for professional use, but it's not a pro lens anyway.

  • Not many people know the value of this lens!

I was looking for something affordable and lightweight for walking around not carrying my entire bag with me. I literally just got this lens today 03.26.2020 and I have to say that I'm very pleased with the performance of this lens. The lens tends to be a little bit soft on the edges at 200mm. I only played in the house and took couple of shots by the window and I was very impressed. Now, you have to keep in mind that you get what you're paying for. This is not a fixed aperture, but in my opinion, it is as sharp as the ones that cost a hand and a leg. For those people that just started photography for fun or personal events, it is the one lens that will do the job for you indoor or outdoor. For outdoor, I can guarantee that your pictures vs a more expensive gear shots, will be the same if not in some ocations better but dor a fraction of the cost. Something to keep in mind when you are shooting indoor. You must have a good lighting or use your flesh. You'll be surprised how much you will love you pictures. Overall, this lens ,in my honest opinion, it is worth the money. I'm a long time hobbyist and I have different types of lenses; I have to tell you that this one will probably stay attached to my D750 fx probably 80% of the time when going out with my family. I only paid $170 in mint condition and I love it. I don't want to go into the things that I don't like about this lens, and it will be worles because of the price and the performance of this lens is phenomenal. However, I wish it was not that plasticky; yes ,but again it will not be worth the same as it is now. In conclusion, it is a very good lens for beginners and even professionals for walk around. Just don't hold your camera from the lens and you'll be safe. Hope you had a chance to find out weather this lens is for you or not. Happy shooting and stay safe! P.S. Very sharp images, love it! :))

  • Good But Not Great

Would rather have a lens with a longer focal length and a lower F stop. No Vibration Reduction, so not so good for action photography. It is a good lens, but not a great lens. Okay for the price.

  • Great Middle Range Zoom

Very Nice mid-range zoom. Very Sharp images at slower shutter speeds even with out VR , and perfectly pairs with my first Full Frame Body. Much better utilized in daylight, due to limited F-stop aperture range. Given the price point, I would highly recommend this lens as a means to avoid carrying a bag full of lenses. This lens and one Fast Prime Lens of your choosing and you are ready to go anywhere.

  • Lightweight. Good performer

Nice little lens. Clear Sharp pictures. Good for closeups or distance shots. It will be a good match for my carry camera..

  • Excellent lens

Highly underrated and overlooked. Amazingly small for a full frame 28-200 lens. Aperture isn’t even too bad with 200mm being f/5.6. 28mm @ f/3.5 ain’t half bad either. Wide enough for anything normal. No idea why Nikon dumped this lens. If you are shooting outdoors in the day IS isn’t even needed. Save yourself some money.

  • Nice Walk-Around Lens

I upgraded to FX recently and was looking for a decent light weight FX walk-around lens and after reading the reviews decided on this. Most of my lenses are older heavy Nikkor and I like the feel of that, but having something with a mid-range that I can carry around comfortably all day is a treat. I tend to follow Ken Rockwell's reviews; they are always straight forward and easy to understand. He gives all the technical stuff, but dummys the conclusion down for the everyday shooter. His review of this lens is right on; it performs really well at a bargain price. Easy to find a clean used one with box and docs for a couple hundred bucks.

  • Lightweight, all-around lens

I love this older Nikon lens! It is super sharp and focuses to 18" at ALL focal lengths. It does the job well from wide angle to close up near macro photography.

  • Nikon 28-200mm lens

Received very quickly, used it for a few photos but picture were slightly out of focus, read some where in Nikon manual, one can make adjustments, read up on this, made the tweaks and the lens is now good, I am happy that I have this lens, very practical when traveling.

  • Exceeds expectations.

This relatively inexpensive older Nikon lens is a great allaround lens. It is both small and light weight making it an easy lens to tote. It produces excellent images. Lastly, it’s performance far exceeds its current selling price.price
