True Adventures of the World's Greatest Stuntman : My Life As Indiana Jones, James Bond, Superman and Other Movie Heroes by Vic Armstrong and Robert Sellers (2011, Hardcover)
I bought this book at its full cover price several years ago and once I began reading I became a nightmare to friends and family as all the while I was continually informing them of the information within it. "Did you know that .. so-and-so played this part ? How do you think that scene was filmed ? etc. This book is filled with so much movie trivia from behind the scenes.
Having known Peter Diamond, a wonderful stuntman and stunt coordinator on movies like Star Wars and Princess Bride, a lot of what Vic Armstrong has written reminded me of the stories Peter had told me and I could mentally relate to the tales - only mentally because there was no way I could ever have done the physical - or crazy - stunts these guys do so we can enjoy the films - I couldn't even dream of some of the tricks they do.
Anyway I was so enthused about this book that I lent it to someone, and that was my mistake. I can't remember who I lent it to and my suspicions are that they enjoyed it as much as I did and then passed it on and totally forgot who lent it to them originally, so it's probably still doing the rounds, it's that type of book - the type you want others to read.
So I found it on eBay and hadn't even noticed that I was buying a hard cover edition (my previous copy was paperback) I was so happy at being able to own a copy again and be able to read it again.
Yes it is a great read, yes it is very informative about movie stunts and yes it is good value for money, even at full cover price, but NO, you cannot borrow my new copy.
