About this product

Product Information

The discovery of a dead body in the woods on Thanksgiving Weekend brings Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his colleagues from the Surete du Quebec to a small village in the Eastern Townships. Gamache cannot understand why anyone would want to deliberately kill well-loved artist Jane Neal, especially any of the residents of Three Pines - a place so free from crime it doesn't even have its own police force. But Gamache knows that evil is lurking somewhere behind the white picket fences and that, if he watches closely enough, Three Pines will start to give up its dark secrets...

  • Lifeless!

Having to read this as a book club member, but finding it so dull I can only bear about 20 pages at a time then I have to run round the garden shouting bad words just to scrape some of its cloying niceness out of my mind! People don’t talk, they make coy speeches, there are way too many adjectives, and the characters are stereotypical. No, I’m not enjoying it

  • A 'different' detective story

This book was recommended by a friend who has read all 19 in the series! I am really enjoying the depth of characterisation and the main protagonist Inspector Gamache

  • Enjoyable and atmospheric

This is a good old fashioned easy read. A bit predictable but set in a lovely town in Canada.
