Classic Canon EX speedlite
Canon introduced TTL Flash with the T-90 in 1986. This was the A-TTL system. Though it was a step forward, it was poor in comparison to Nikon’s system. With the EOS3 and the EOS 1V they introduced the ETTL system shown by the EX nomenclature. This was still not as good as the Nikon matrix flash system, but it was progress. The 550EX is first flashgun in this series. It works with any EOS camera and is particularly suited to the early models. I bought this to go with my EOS3.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Fantastic Flash gun
This is a top quality flash gun. I am using it with my Canon 6D and Canon EOS 300. When on automatic it adjusts to the focal distance automatically as you adjust your zoom lens on both the cameras above. The result is a perfectly balanced photo with even lighting . When using it on camera manual settings it does the job just as well as it adjusts through the lens according to the aperture combined with the focal length of the lens.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great Piece of Gear
The unit arrived quickly and was well packaged. Being new to flash photography I wasnt sure how easy it would be to get the hang of it but the 550EX was very easy to set up and get started. It has made a big difference to my photos already and may be looking for another one to try some different lighting setups. Underestimated Second'Hand purchase.
Selling now second hand for below £70, I purchased on to use off camera along with my 580EX and 430EX II using an ST-E2 Transmitter, theres really not that much of a difference between the three tbh.
