Not my usual fare, but utterly compelling.
As the final book of the trilogy, it is not difficult now, to see why all 3 books have achieved such a status. This is writing of such depth, imagination and such a compelling read. If you read a little and are not hooked by the first book, Northern Lights, then stick with it, as I did for another half hour. Then I just couldn't put it down. The same with The Subtle Knife, by which time I couldn't wait to get the next book and on to the final one, The Amber Spyglass. Brilliant compelling writing from Philip Pullman and by the way I'm male and 66 years of age. Just try these books!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
